So, I have joined this #100daysStrong and have done really nothing. On my medical form for Wood Badge, the Dr said I was 291. That is 101 more than I was when I graduated in 1986. Just now I weighed myself @ #281.9 lbs. The 291 was at the Dr’s office, and I really do not trust those scales. Sure they say they calibrate them. In my line of work at Xerox, people say they calibrate the copiers, but I know how to check. Yup, 3, 6,9, 12 months ago they did. So, I will be using my bathroom Scale from now on.
The BSA Medical form says that at 6’1″ (73in) and 282 lbs I should be really at 144-205 recommended weight, though 206-246 is the allowable exception. That means, I need to loose at lest 36 pounds to get their Max Recommended Weight. That’s the Philmont Trek Weight. (oh, and that’s not stocking feet here). So, I either have to grow 5 inches or loose weight.
If you look at my friend Balloo here, he’s kinda girthy. Just like me. Girthy!
So, what is my goal. Well, I want to get to 220 lbs sooner than later. Is it possible in 100 days. Nope. Only if I completely focus and hit the gym each day and the sweat lodge. On Loseit.com if I loose 2 pounds a week, I can get it by Dec 25th, 2011. Seems doable.
Ok, so 2 pounds a week until 12/25/11. I will be logging my weight and some food and what I did for exercise on Loseit.com. If you have the App via iPhone (sorry, found out there is no Android app) connect with me there. I know you can connect via website. I won’t be blogging a daily “My Weight is”. That’s completely boring and has no real Scouting info. I will update sometime to what I am up to and any hurdles. So, if you want to connect via Loseit, go here for info on how to connect.
My fat story:
I was very active in School. Played Football, Downhill Skied a lot and hiked, fished, rode bikes and all that fun stuff. What happened? Well, I got older and stopped doing a lot of that stuff. Drank a lot of Beer, got a career in the Culinary Arts. “Never trust a skinny Chef!”. Couple all of that and now with my work, it adds the pounds on.
My work. While it’s not important who I work for, I drive a lot. If you follow me on Twitter, then you will see my location all the time. I travel to Seattle, Bend, Eureka, Redding, Montana, Boise, Spokane, Sandpoint, Coos Bay, Walla Walla and so many many other places. I will drive 8-13 hours to get to a location. Sometimes I will fly, but it’s easier for me to drive. Food, um well, truckstops are my friends along with 7-11 type stores. These places do not have ANYTHING good for you. Ok, except water.
I will point out that I do try and go to Subway all the time. No, I am not a Jared fanatic. But a double roast beef on a 6 inch bun is way better than a 12in single sandwich. That really does it for me. Quiznoes is not my speed since they have a lot of sauce in there. Plus, look at how their meat is heated up. No, not the pizza oven they slide it through. It’s a water bath in a bucket. ALL THE MEAT GOES IN THERE! HELLO! UGH. I stopped going when I saw that. One other chain I like is Jimmy Johns. They seem real straight forward. Plus they have WHOLE PICKLES!
So, I have a lifestyle change ahead. Can I do it? I will try. Along with the Sandwich part which is good, the one thing I need to do is find a drink that works for me. Gotta stop the Coke habit. You know, the soda one…..
Ok, so, here we go. Loosing weight.
FYI: The Photo of me is from my pre-cubscout days. This was about 2003 or 4. I have a guys weekend that I call Compadres. It’s an invite only thing and all we do is cook really good food. Nothing in a baggie or over a whisperlite. We haul grilles and smokers all over. It’s Rabbit, Rocky Mtn Oysters, Ribs, Quail (Yes, Bobwhites) Wild Boar, Gulf Coast Shrimp, Ostrich, Elk, Deer, Buffaloe, Antelope (not very Wood Badgeish, eh?) and many other type of meat.
