COMIT 95 in 15

COMIT-95-15 Earlier this year, March to be exact, several Scouters got together at the Council offices and talked about how WE as Volunteers could get those who need to be trained, trained.   There were about 20 or so people at the meeting.  Over the summer there was a Task Force Steering Committee that was set-up and I was asked to be on it.

Our Vision is this: “Every registered CS Leader is Prepared for their specific role, when they join, and whenever they change roles or units.”
Along with the added assumption :”Every leader expects this of every leader. ‘It’s just who we are and what we do’.”

Our goal is to have 95% of all registered Cubscout Direct Contact Leaders trained by December 2015.Can we do this? Yes!

On August 20th 2013, our report back to the group and work party kicked off with David Nash explaining why and inspiring us to “Help the Pack Go”!
Please watch this video as it will help you understand that was we as Volunteers within Cascade Pacific and our own Districts are going to do.

And you will find out what COMIT actually stands for….

  1. Steve: The one thing our Program Director at Council who oversees Training and many other programs, has been working directly within Scoutnet and editing records directly. It’s pretty boring, but he’s got it down after 6-7 months.

The one then that we have started doing is if Scoutnet isn’t correct and the Scouter has all their training cards/info they can fill out a sheet and submit it to the Training Chair of that District or DE. We will go over it and then submit to him /or his assistant to update Scoutnet accordingly.

One big glitch that people run into and your getting at it, is to have the BSA Membership ID that they are issued, put into their myscouting.org account. It does not always happen. So, educating and getting that info to the Scouter is key. It’s not just a Cubscout Volunteer thing either…;)

  2. Hey Adam,

What are the thoughts on how to make the records match reality? The only motivator I have thought of is to require that the MyScouting account have the MemberID recorded to show YPT at recharter.

I’m working on the Cub Leader training in the north most district for you. ;-)
